Bleeding is unusual. Infection is usually uncommon.

There are usually no dressings. Initial swelling is usually moderate and gradually disappears over a month or two. Discomfort is mild to moderate and is controlled with oral medications. Sutures in the mouth dissolve and do not need to be removed. Sutures or staples in the scalp are removed in approximately 7-10 days.
You will experience some temporary swelling and bruising around the treated area. This can be minimized be applying cold compresses and keeping the head elevated while reclining. You may also tightness or numbness around the treated area which can make chewing difficult. Any pain you experience will be mild to moderate and can be controlled by oral medications. Most people are completely ambulatory immediately following this procedure, but rest is recommended for the first day after surgery. Patients are usually able to return to normal activities within a week, although strenuous exercise should be avoided for several weeks along with any other activities that may cause a rise in your blood pressure. Chewing may be difficult for a few days. Following chin and cheek augmentation, slight discomfort, aching, and some numbness along with swelling can be expected. Patients are advised to keep the head elevated and apply cold compresses during the first 24-48 hours. Postoperative discomfort can be controlled with medication. Patients are also advised to rinse their mouths with hydrogen peroxide after each meal and 2-3 day otherwise while the stitches are still in place. All swelling is typically gone within six weeks.
