Liposuction is one of the most common cosmetic procedures in Thailand, and in the world. It is one of the preferred ways to get rid of stubborn lumps and bumps caused by localized fat in order to achieve amazing transformation to one’s body.
As one of the leading plastic surgery medical facilities in Thailand, Naravee Aesthetic Center offers two liposuction procedures - LipoScuplture/Hi-Definition Liposuction and the remarkable VASER Liposuction. These procedures are more advanced forms of traditional liposuction which can help patients improve their body contouring while posting minimal risks.
Differences between Vaser Hi-Def and Traditional Liposuction
The modern clinical techniques of liposuction evolved from surgeons in Europe in late 1960s. For over half a century, the procedure has continuously been improved and developed and has birthed various techniques beyond typical fat removal. Just as no two bodies are the same, patients are now able to choose from different types of liposuction methods the process most suitable for their own body type, individual needs and required results. Liposuction, however, should not be perceived as a weight-loss alternative and patients are strongly advised to maintain realistic expectations.
Traditional Liposuction is a surgical treatment that targets excessive fat in specific areas of the body. Most surgeons would combine liposuction with Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck Surgery) which remove sagging excessive skin. Traditional liposuction can be performed on nearly all areas of the body, including the buttocks, breasts, abdomen, knees and even chin. A liposuction procedure is carried out under general anesthetic and can last between one and three hours.
Generally, patients are required to stay overnight at the hospital following the surgical liposuction. After that, they are advised to avoid intense activities and exercise for a few weeks, but can return to work within 7-10 days. Traditional liposuction is best suited for patients who have a high BMI (Body Mass Index) and wish to remove fat from larger areas of the body.
Nonetheless, there are a number of risks associated with traditional liposuction. Risk is particularly increased when treated areas cover a larger part of the body. Some side effects and complications include, but are not limited to, temporary or chronic pain, bruising, swelling, infections, embolisms, skin necrosis, burns, scars, deformity, and even death. Statistically, death associated with liposuction occurs in about one per 10,000 cases.
Vaser Hi-Def Liposuction
Vaser Hi-Def Liposuction is a revolutionary method that focuses on smaller areas of stubborn fat that, due to genetics involved, cannot be lost via diet and exercise alone. In this procedure, sound energy is used to dissolve fat cells, which are then suctioned out of the body through small tubes. These fat cells can be purified and then injected back to the body in areas that might be lacking such as breasts and buttocks. It is the method that truly creates an immensely amazing body transformation and makes patients look and feel much younger.
In addition, VASER Hi-Def can be carried out under local anesthetic, thus does not require patients to spend a night at the hospital. The treatment also involves less downtime and much lower rate of complications. Unlike traditional liposuction, VASER Hi-Def is more suitable for patients with an average BMI that only wish to remove small amounts of fat from specific areas of the body.
